Big Band Music
The Highland Swing Orchestra is a Big Band in the Swing Era tradition.
Comprised of musicians from Highland Park, New Jersey and the surrounding area, the Big Band performs the music of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Glenn Miller, Dizzy Gillespie and others.
In most cases, the band plays the original charts that were performed by the bands that made them famous.

A Community Big Band
There are many community bands, but there is only one community big band in the area. We are supported by the Borough of Highland Park, New Jersey and the Highland Park Arts Commission.
The Highland Swing Orchestra brings the nearly forgotten Swing Era back to life in the modern era.
The music, all instrumentals with the occasional guest vocalist, delights audiences young and old, especially those who have never seen a real big band before.
Booking Requests
The Highland Swing Orchestra Big Band performs frequently in Highland Park and Central New Jersey. If you are interested in having the band play at your event, please fill out the booking form.
We do not play at private parties, weddings or celebrations.
We like to play concerts, street fairs, outdoor events, assisted living centers, fundraisers and “out of the box” events. We are always open to innovative ideas about places to play. If you have something in mind, run it by us; We just may say yes! We do ask for an honorarium for our performances, which is used for band expenses.
